A former pupil of the Academy Andrew Gray who is currntly appearing in "We Will Rock You" will be part of the teaching faculty this year. Also I am delighted to announce that Nicholas Charters will be teaching at Summer stars. 

NICHOLAS CHARTERS
Nicholas trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.


He recently completed two highly successful national tours covering Dave Willetts, Paul Nicholas and Tim Flavin in the leading roles of Emile DeBeque in South Pacific and Julian Marsh in 42nd Street. In the latter he also played the supporting role of Pat Denning, and was privileged to be directed by the show's creator and Broadway director, Mark Bramble. He spent two years in the UK number one tour of Beauty and the Beast, in the role of Monsieur Darque. In Blood Brothers he played the Policeman/Teacher, alongside Linda Nolan. Prior to this he was in the first year of the current Cats tour covering the roles of Old Deuteronomy and Gus the Theatre Cat/Growltiger, which he played on many occasions. Nick played the title role in the number one tour of the Happy Birthday Postman Pat stage show, celebrating the popular character's 20th year!

Other experience includes: Mr Snow in Carousel, Miles Gloriosus in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Max Detweiller in The Sound of Music, Lord Battersby in Me and My Girl and Steve in Hair (all for Bruce James Productions); Emperor of China, understudy Abanazar in Aladdin for Qdos; Ugly Sister in Cinderella, new production; Turkey/Greylag in Honk!, at the Landor; actor/MD in The Magic Storybook for Solent Peoples Theatre; Sir Benjamin Backbite in The School for Scandal; Beadle Bamford in Sweeney Todd; Prospero in Tempest-a New Age Musical; Dennis Neilsen in Black and Blue; Uncle Smelicue in Dark of the Moon; Captain Dobbin in Vanity Fair (Covent Garden Festival-also recording).   Remember places are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment!

For the past three years Summer Stars have been a huge success culminating in  dramatic performances of "Cinderella","Aladdin" and "Dick Whittington".

A week focusing on the skills for musical theatre, encompassing dance, singing, drama, pas de deux(seniors only) and performance technique.  Taught by highly qualified teachers the week will also look at make-up, costume, lighting and stage design.  Participants will get the chance to perform in an end of week production open to the public featuring the work they have learned.  There will be daily competitions along with the chance to win a scholarship for next year’s summer school.  Previous dance experience is an advantage but not necessary.  Groups will be split according to age &/or ability.

JUNIORS:   6 – 11 YEARS/UP TO GRADE 4                             
                                          

SENIORS:     12 – 19 YEARS/GRADE 5 AND ABOVE 

THE DETAILS
Daily registration is at 8.50am.A warm up class will start at 9.00am. There will be two 15min breaks and a lunch break. Prompt collection at 3.00pm. Final performance will start at 2.00pm on TBA.  Doors will open at 1.30pm.

•    Notepad and pen
•    Knee pads (seniors only)
•    Make-up removal items

COST
The total cost for the week is £95 with a £25 deposit.  If you book by 31st April you will receive a £5 discount.  Siblings are priced at £80.00(no early booking discounts are applicable). Please contact us for booking form or download the application form below now.
